I took a short walk today to check out the area. I discoverd a lot of stores, a mall and Sokolniki Park. The only problem was, it was freezing out. It is so warm inside that you go out thinking it's not that cold, big mistake. It was about 10 degrees Farenheit when I went out, as I said it was a short walk because my legs were freezing. Tomorrow's walk will include long johns! Anyway, here's a few pictures that I took on the walk, there are only a couple from the park, it is huge so I'm sure I'll get more later this week.
This is a church on the way to the park.
These gates are at the entrance to the park.
As you walk into the park, there is a row of ice statues, each one with different flowers frozen inside of it, makes you think of Spring.
I read somewhere that the turn the entire main walkway of the park into a skating rink. These skaters were enjoying themselves, walking across the ice was a challenge!

Thanks for the pictures. I hope this is a good trip for you. Can't wait to read more.

Moscow seems like such a great city! I wonder if that is the same church my Aunt and Uncle went to visit when they traveled to Moscow. I will ask them. Keep those notes and photos coming. I hope it warms up so you can see more of that beautiful park. Good luck tomorrow. I have faith that this is going to be a good day.

Whenever possible walk underground...there is a whole other world under the streets near Tverskaya st...and it's warmer:)

Hi Chris,
Glad to see/hear that you have made it to Moscow and your plane managed to stay on the designated runways this time - and that you actually had the right the visa to enter.
And good to hear that you have been able to get out in the (really) big city.
We will continue to be on pin-and-needles for you over the next few days (probably more so than at any stage over our own process - ignorance was bliss and we achieved rapture).
While Sara is out tonight (book club), I will toast your fortune with my pint of Drambuie - Zoe made me.
Hope that everything truly does fall into place for you. But you know that.
Fingers crossed for you.
Our continued love, support and best wishes.
(Christ, let's get it done right this time!)

Glad to see you arrived safely. The pictures are beautiful...keep them coming! Good luck tomorrow and keep us all posted.
Love you,
Lisa (and family)
I love the photos! The church is beautiful and what an amazing idea to freeze flowers inside of ice sculptures! Thanks for sharing.
