Max had a big day yesterday, he slept through the night for the first time! When he woke up, Torre, our dog, was here. He loves Torre, he throws her bone at her, her toys, everything. When we go outside, Torre chases other animals and Max chases Torre. This morning when I woke up, Torre was asleep in Max’ room right next to the crib. I can’t believe how quickly they have bonded.
I guess I didn’t give Max enough breakfast yesterday morning, he came walking up to me with something in his mouth, I took it out and found a piece of crunchy dog food. I don’t think he liked it very much; he didn’t go back for seconds! Or maybe he listened to me when I took him over to the dog dish and told him not to eat the dog food, maybe not.
Then we went to the pediatrician, Max did pretty good except when they drew blood. After that it was home for lunch and a nap, or so I thought. He ate his lunch but refused to take a nap. He was in the crib for about ninety minutes and seemed to get more and more awake each minute.
We had to go to the super market; he did great in the cart. He just wanted me to hand him each item so he could inspect it and try to open it before it actually went into the cart. When I tried to bypass this process because I was putting a glass jar in the cart, the lack of nap reared its ugly head and the meltdown began, it lasted until we got back into the car.
Late yesterday afternoon we had visitors, my friends Lisa, Stephanie and Chrissy came over. Max did great, much better than I thought he would! He laughed and played and ran all over the place, everyone had fun! It seems Max is ready to meet my friends and family.

Sounds like you are easing into a regular routine pretty quickly. That is great. I remember Vika's first trip to the doctor and how awful it was when they had to draw blood. Not my favorite part of the visit.
Eating pet food is just a part of experiencing everything around them. Vika did that too - has nothing to do with being hungry.
We can't wait to meet him!

Torre and Max now enjoy a common adversary.
Good idea in taking the dog food out of his mouth prior to the doctor visit.
Glad to hear that things are going well. Jennifer and I and Sabrina would love to come up and meet Max. Let us know.

Chris,
We are so glad to hear you are safely home with Max. It has been a long journey and it sounds like you are both adjusting well. Mike and I have thought about you often through this last year. Barbara and Stephen are adjusting well to being spoiled Americans. If you ever want to show Max - Texas - let us know- we would love to host you. For now, rest up, and we would love to see you some time soon on Skype.

Wow Wow Wow--don't know if you remember me Chris but I followed your first blog and Kaz journey. I haven't checked your blog for months but have often wondered what happened to you. I decided to check today and was blown away when I linked to your new blog. I missed all the beginning of this new journey but I am so thrilled to read this blog. What a wonderful ending to your long journey. Max sounds wonderful and delightful. One thing I couldn't tell was how old he was--obviously old enough to run around but young enough to be in a crib. I am just so happy for you.
Like you I was working with CHI and Kaz but thought my world crashed in when they returned my dossier after 10 months in Kaz. I ultimately left CHI but soon went to another agency and also switched to Russia. I brought my beautiful daughter home just over one year ago. She was nearly four when she arrived home and just turned 5. She is the light of my life and absolutely the right dauther for me. I know you feel the same way about your son.
I can't stop smiling. I was crushed for you back then but I am so excited for you now.
